Love Thursday~My mom

Haven't done a Love Thursday post in awhile... it's high time! On December 28, my mother turned eighty years old. I love my mother so much! I suppose most people feel this way about their mothers but I really am blessed to have been raised by such a phenomenal person. She is warm, thoughtful and caring and loves her family so much. She is a retired professor and an accomplished author and with a strong Christian faith, a Radcliffe education and a PhD she is truly an amazing woman. I admire her and I still learn from her. And at eighty, she is as sharp and classy as ever as you will see in the montage. We had a small family celebration the day before with our family favorite, the 1-2-3-4 cake. A 1-2-3-4 cake has 1 cup of butter, 2 cups of sugar, 3 cups of flour and 4 eggs (among other things) and is so dense and delicious! My sister, Susan , baked it and wrote "MA" with chocolate chips in the icing (my niece Sarah and I licked the beaters) and everyone enjoyed a slice! It is sooo rich but no birthday is complete without it. The next day, on her actual birthday, we had a lovely luncheon attended by not only family but also many of her closest friends-some of whom she has had for over 50 years. I made her a book of her life for her gift and she shared it with the guests before the lunch. Then during the lunch my dad suggested that each guest stand and share how they know my mother or a story or memory of some sort. It was so beautiful!! Let me tell you, there was barely a dry eye in the room. It was so moving to see how much she is loved.
