Cause I Wanna Remember

I found this in my archives and never published it. I wrote it back in August when she had only been home for 5 months and had just turned two. I have to publish it. I included some photos taken of her in August to go along with this old post.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(I love this photo! It looks like it could be the cover of a book.)
I unbuckle the car seat and she can swing her arms out of the straps with ease. If she's holding something she will put it into her other hand, take out that arm, and switch.
When I'm in the shower I will sporadically call out: "Are you being a good girl??!!!!" and she will come running from whatever room she playing in into the bathroom, peek her head in the door or pull back the shower curtain and confirm with a big smile "Goo gull!" This will happen several times during my shower.
When she really, really wants something (like some banana or for me toput on a video) and I give it to her she screams in joy and then she pats my leg and says, "Mommy" and nods her head. It's like she's saying, "Man, I have the greatest mom ever. Thanks, mommy!"
If she likes what I've prepared for her to eat she looks at me and nods and smiles while she's eating it. I join in and we eat in silence nodding and smiling about the great meal.
When she is really happy or content, she smiles with lips closed.
She kisses the things she loves. This is often her stuffed animals or her babies but also books, live animals and even food. She will even kiss her her banana that I give her for snack.
She is so free with hugs and kisses. She will hug her teachers, her friends, my friends, our relatives. It is so sweet!
Quotes and Tidbits and Such
She will tell me if her her food is too hot, bath water too cold, etc. But other than hot or cold she doesn't have the vocabulary to describe food in terms of sweet, crunchy, slimy etc. But she can say, "juicy". She will use this quite a bit for food or for when she's drinking some juice.
She calls an owl an "ah-boo." Love it.
Here she is enjoying her play kitchen she got from the Grandparents for Christmas.
After watching the Elmo video about the beach over and over she now talks about wanting to go to the beach. When we drive on a bridge over any body of water she will yell excitedly, "Beach!!" and then ask if we can go, "Mommy, beach?"
She has learned to push things against the wall to turn on lights, how to climb up on the toilet to reach things off the sink and how to open the refrigerator. Uh oh.
When it's time for her bath she inevitably asks, "Mommy, tub?" She loves when we take baths together.
One day she looked at me and just said point blank, "I happy too much." (awwwwwwwww)
She was playing with blocks and held up the one with a capital A and said, "A fo' Amen." (Amen is the name of one of her classmates). Then she twisted it to the side and saw a 5 and said, "five!" Then she held up five fingers and said, "Der five right der." Then she twisted it again to the capital N and said "N fo' No-mi." When I asked her a few minutes later what the N was for she said, "Almi." LOL
Her new question of the hour is, "Wha dat noise, Mommy?" or "Wha dat soun'?" Every little squeak and creak she asking me that. Cracks me up!
"Ah doin', baby?" She asks me this all the time. She likes to pretend she is the Mommy and I am Almi (the baby) so when she's ready to play she'll say that. It's so cute.
"I'm No-mi" Yes. She says this now, too. She can't pronounce 3 syllable words very well so she calls herself No-mi."
She is learning how to clean up her toys!
She likes string beans, butternut squash, spinach, yellow squash, cauliflower and carrots! She also likes bananas, blueberries, apples, pineapple, clementines, raisins and dates. She also eats fish and plain yogurt. I really can't complain. I think that's better than most toddlers.
She is obsessed with ants! If she sees one she tells me, "Bug!" and then gets down really close to it to examine it.
We love to snuggle and goof off!
And because it's St. Patrick's Day, here are some pics of my adorable leprechaun from last year.
Watch Your Bath Products!
I love to slather lotion all over my body and cover myself with baby powder, too!
Heart Swell
My little one did something amazing today.
I gave her some peach soy yogurt and half a banana for lunch and she was so, so happy.
In between sloppy bites she looked over at me and said "I luh loo" unprompted with a huge smile.
Awwwww... I love you too, pumpkin!!!!! So much!
(of course I had to grab my camera to document the day!)
Naomisms
First of all, thanks for the input regarding the doctor's note. I called to ask how it works and they said they have to review my medical issue but they won't reconvene until April 13th to do that. I am due back to work on the 6th. I guess I'll have to extend my FMLA until they look at my case but I'm not sure for how long I'll have to do that for and I wasn't told how long it would take for them to make a decision. I better figure it out soon cause everyone is expecting me back to work next week. What a pain.
Something more fun to read about are the cute things my girl is doing!
Here are some of the latest:
1. I don't get called momma. Instead I get "GeeGee" or "Emmay". I don't know where those came from. I keep telling her, "No, I'm Momma" but it hasn't stuck. I don't mind, though. It's cute and unique and won't last forever. The other morning she woke up and in turn woke me up. I was exhausted and couldn't move so I just lay there and listened to her babble and entertain herself. This went on for about 20 minutes which is pretty impressive since she only had two toys in her crib. She spent a lot of time talking about who knows what and rattling the side of the crib and making funny noises with her mouth and playing with her hands and feet. Finally after 20 minutes she said "Momma!" so even in my sleep-deprived, delirious state I jumped up with a big smile and said, "Yes, I'm Momma!" and swooped her up into my arms and gave her a big kiss.
2. She is sooo freakin' cute when she sleeps and when she just wakes up. She babbles on and on and on and we carry on complete conversations. I try to get it on video but when she sees the camera she stops talking.
3. She fell asleep alone for the first time on March 25th! I must document it for her baby book. Her crib didn't have any sheets on it because it had to be stripped in the morning and I didn't get around to doing the laundry so I put her to sleep in my bed. She hopped right out and walked down the hall looking for me. This continued about 15 times but just like SuperNanny teaches, I just put her right back in. She finally gave up and went to sleep. It worked like a charm and gave me several hours to get things done! And I was especially pleased because she barely cried during the process. I think she liked listening to the lullablies I downloaded from iTunes and couldn't hear them when she cried. Look at this cute position!!4. She can now sign 'banana' and 'all done'. It is so cute! At breakfast when I asked her if she wanted some banana, she signed it! Then she broke out into giggles because she loves her some banana! When I try to give her more of something (like broccoli) or do something she's tired of (like tickling her feet) she will sign all done. I love knowing she is understanding me even though she can't yet say the words!
5. She will say "bye-bye" and wave when someone leaves. She also repeats "wow" and "uh oh."
6. She loves cats! Dogs? Not so much. I can't wait to take her to the zoo!
