The international adoption world is definitely unpredictable but I decided to go with teaching abroad first (contingent on an offer of course). This afternoon I booked my hotel reservations and plane ticket for the job fair. I also narrowed down my job selection to four schools, two in Asia and two in Africa. If I don't get an offer, I'll stay here (hopefully get a better job), get a dog!! and continue with the adoption. Awesome! If I get an offer that I like, then I'm off for an adventure and will resume the adoption as soon as possible. I know I'm taking a huge risk with Ethiopia by not staying on the adoption path. Will it be an option when I am ready to resume? Will singles be banned? But I can't worry about that. I am confident that I will be a mother somehow, sometime, however God deems it to happen and I am trusting in that. Maybe my child isn't going to be from Ethiopia. Maybe she's Haitian or Liberian or Indian or Vietnamese or American. But a decision had to made and the stress of doing an adoption in my current job/salary/savings/status was keeping me up at night. It's really win-win. I'll go interview and see what happens. I may be offered a wonderful opportunity. And if not, at least I know I tried. Either way, I know it feels so good to have finally made a decision! Finally!!

This sounds like a really good plan. Good luck with the job fair. And you are right, your child may not come from Ethiopia - there's a whole world out there.
The right road, is the one that takes you where you want to go, while stopping at nice towns and shops with red shoes in the window. Wherever you go, there you are.
